Summary of the Books
Winter is coming. In Westeros, where summers last decades, winters which last lifetimes are always coming. Even in the affairs of men, the summer of peace is always cast into the frozen abyss of war. Robert Baratheon and Eddard Stark threw back the Targaryens and wrested the Iron Throne from them, ending their reign of terror. They brought to the Seven Kingdoms a modicum of peace. However, winter is always coming. Now, years later, the Targaryens are poised to return, in the form of their sole survivor, an unsuspecting young girl. Robert is now the King of the Iron Throne. He has grown fat with peace and he is a mere shadow of his former self. When the Hand of the King dies, Robert journeys North to meet Eddard to name him the Hand. However, Eddard makes a startling discovery during the King?s visit. Robert?s heir, Joffrey, might not even be his own son. When Robert dies, a usurper may yet again sit on the Iron Throne. Peace is at an end and a long winter begins for the House of Stark. And the Targaryen girl weds a barbarian ruler who grants her access to his horde, one that could cripple the Seven Kingdoms forever. This collection brings together all 5 books: A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, A Feast for Crows, and A Dance With Dragons.
